At Harbor Counseling, we believe that healing occurs in safe spaces and sometimes those spaces extend beyond the therapy room. This month, we are honored to spotlight a remarkable local organization: Albemarle Hopeline.

Who They Are:

Albemarle Hopeline is a nonprofit organization that serves survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and teen dating violence across northeastern North Carolina. Their mission focuses on safety, empowerment, education, and hope, and they provide completely free and confidential services to individuals in need. When someone is in an unsafe situation, knowing where to turn can feel overwhelming. That’s why having a trusted local resource like Hopeline is so important..

Services They Provide

Albemarle Hopeline offers:
  • 24-hour crisis support
  • Emergency shelter
  • Individual and group support services
  • Court advocacy
  • Case management
  • Prevention education and community outreach
Their team walks alongside survivors at every stage,  from crisis response to long-term rebuilding.

Why This Matters

Domestic violence and sexual assault can affect anyone, regardless of age, background, income, or profession. Many survivors suffer in silence, unsure of what options are available or worried they won’t be believed.  Support can truly change everything. Access to safe shelter, advocacy, and compassionate guidance can make the difference between isolation and empowerment. Organizations like Albemarle Hopeline help individuals reclaim safety, voice, and stability.

Therapy + Community Support

As counselors, we often work with individuals navigating trauma, relationship abuse, and life transitions. While therapy provides a space to process and heal, community organizations like Hopeline offer practical support, safety planning, and immediate resources that may be urgently needed. Healing is most effective when support systems work together. If you or someone you know could benefit from their services, we encourage you to reach out directly:
