What happens if I miss an appointment?
We understand that sometimes unexpected things happen and it may be necessary for you to cancel your appointment. Our providers put in their best efforts to provide you with the highest quality care. However, to help us accommodate other clients in need, we kindly request that you notify us at least 24 hours in advance if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. This will allow us to possibility fill that appointment time with someone else. Clients will be responsible for a $50 charge for each no show/no call event or when an appointment is canceled with less than 24 hours prior notice.

Additionally, only a 15-minute grace period will be given for clients running late. Clients arriving after the 15-minute grace period WILL be charged the same $50 fee and the appointment will be canceled.

What happens if I am sick?
We understand that sickness happens. However, for the safety and well-being or our clinicians and clients, we ask that you do not come in if you are sick. Please communicate with your provider or our office staff as soon as you know you are unwell and will not be able to make it into the office (telehealth may be an option). If your provider or the office manager notices that you are sick, your appointment will be canceled and you may be subject to the $50 late cancellation fee.

Appointment Information

What should I expect at the first appointment? Adult
Scheduling your first session can leave you wondering what to expect!  This first session will be different than other sessions. Your provider will ask questions to better understand your current concerns, historical information and to gain further details about information on your intake questionnaire. This is so your clinician can help build an individualized treatment plan for you based on your goals for therapy!

Don't worry, these goals can change as the therapeutic process opens up new areas you want to explore.

What should I expect at the first appointment? - Minor Clients
With all minor clients, we ask that a parent or legal guardian are present to physically consent to the beginning of the therapeutic relationship. Therefore at the start of the appointment, your child's therapist will meet with the parent/legal guardian and the minor client for roughly 15 minutes to get background information and review the consent for therapy services.

After roughly 15 minutes, your child's counselor will have you step out and they will continue the rest of the intake with just your child. After your child's appointment, your child's counselor will let you know roughly how often they would like to see your child to start and you will be able to schedule more appointments with our office staff.

How long should therapy last?
Your therapeutic journey is unique to you, therefore there is no set amount of time that therapy will take. However, our goal is to work ourselves out of a job, so we will check in often about therapeutic goals and session frequency!
Can I bring my child and have them sit in the waiting room?
We understand that childcare can be difficult to find, however we ask that children are not left in the waiting room.
How can I verify my provider?
Our providers are highly dedicated to upholding the professional and ethical standards of practice. We encourage our clients to be informed about their providers licensure and training. Please see the North Carolina Board of Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors website here to verify your providers licensure: https://portal.ncblcmhc.org/verification/search.aspx

*Please note: graduate level interns are in the process of completing their education and have not yet earned licensure in the state of North Carolina*
Why should I read my provider's PDS?
Your provider's Professional Disclosure Statement or PDS has in-depth information about your provider's therapy style, additional training, certifications and areas of focus, as well as areas outside of their scope of practice. The PDS reviews other information such as billing, sickness, and means of contact. This is your contract for therapeutic services, make sure you take your time to review this information!
How long does a session last?
The initial intake, as well as each following session, is approximately 53-55 minutes.
